Ballard Power Systems has strategic alliances with DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Company. The company, formerly known as Ballard Research, Inc. was founded in 1979. It changed its name to Ballard Power Systems, Inc. in 1989 pursuant to the amalgamation of a group of affiliated companies under the Canada Business Corporations Act. The company is headquartered in Burnaby, Canada.
