It also designs and manufactures custom high temperature systems used in metals brazing, ceramic sintering, and thin film coatings. The company markets its products through a direct technical sales force and through independent sales representatives primarily in the United States, Europe, and Asia. BTU International has a license and joint development agreement with Boston University, focused on processes used to manufacture solid oxide fuel cells. The company was formed in 1950 and is headquartered in North Billerica, Massachusetts.
