Its primary focus is the development of the PowerLink System, a catheter-based alternative treatment to surgery for abdominal aortic aneurysms. This system consists of a self-expanding stainless steel stent cage covered with ePTFE, a common surgical graft material. The implantation causes the blood flow to be shunted away from the weakened or ‘aneurysmal' section of the aorta resulting in the reduction of pressure and potential for the aorta to rupture.
