The index measures the performance of those companies in the small-capitalization sector, defined as those companies that form the 7% of the market capitalization between the 90th and 97th percentile of the US equity market, that Morningstar determines to have growth characteristics based on long-term projected earnings growth, historical earnings growth, sales growth, cash flow growth and book value growth.
