The Fine Chemicals segment offers large-scale organic chemicals and biochemicals used in the development and production by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, industrial, and diagnostic companies. The company operates in approximately 35 countries, offers 90,000 chemical and 30,000 equipment products, and sells these products in approximately 150 countries. Sigma-Aldrich was founded in 1951 and is based in St. Louis, Missouri.
